We purchased 12 Roseman Ave back in 2020 - a joint venture between Wade Southgate + Stefanie Brett, and Sharne Southgate + Brennan Alexander-Parker.
The four of us moved into the tired two-storey state house a week before a pandemic lockdown, and thus began a three year renovation of the charming old home. A crash course in DIY followed, starting with the upstairs bedrooms, eventually resulting in a fully renovated home. The house now features fully restored matai timber floors, a brand new kitchen and open plan living area, new french doors and deck off the kitchen area, and a fully restored exterior, returned to its original grandeur.

2022-2023
Once the state house renovations were nearing completion, we began the design process to subdivide the property into three Lots. The front section was 178sqm of moderately sloping lawn, and became the location of the Roseman Whare new build for Wade + Stef.

The design, subdivision and consenting process was largely undertaken by Wade, while working for Burgess Treep & Knight Architects Ltd, with help from other specialist consultants where required.

2023-2025
The new build began in November 2023. Our incredible builders - John Love and the team from Love Construction Ltd - were instrumental in making this project achievable. Wade undertook the project management, contract administration and construction observation of the job, working alongside John and his team.
Love Construction was tasked with constructing the building envelope, with plenty of labour assistance from the Roseman gang. Once the building was weathertight, we undertook the majority of the internal finishing ourselves, with supervision from Love Construction Ltd where required. This included, but was not limited to:

-
Install of insulation
-
Install of GIB linings + trims
-
Plastering
-
Painting
-
Internal waterproofing
-
Tiling
-
Cabinetry
-
Floor finishes
-
Door hardware
-
Deck construction
-
Landscaping

This hands-on approach meant every detail, intersection and finish was carefully considered and hand-crafted throughout the home. The result speaks for itself!
